Service Representative

The Service Representative serves as the primary point of contact for existing clients, delivering prompt, professional, and accurate customer service. This position is responsible for maintaining client relationships, processing policy transactions, documenting all client interactions, and ensuring compliance with agency procedures and insurance regulations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide outstanding customer service by phone, email, text, and in person.

  • Respond promptly to client inquiries regarding policies, billing, claims, and coverage.

  • Process policy endorsements, renewals, cancellations, reinstatements, and certificate requests.

  • Review insurance policies for accuracy and completeness.

  • Explain policy coverages, exclusions, and available options without misrepresenting products.

  • Obtain quotes for policy changes and additional coverage as requested.

  • Assist clients with claims reporting and provide updates throughout the claims process.

  • Follow up on outstanding underwriting requirements and policy documentation.

  • Maintain accurate, detailed documentation of all client communications within the agency management system.

  • Identify cross-selling and coverage gap opportunities and refer clients to licensed producers when appropriate.

  • Maintain confidentiality of client information in accordance with agency policies and applicable privacy laws.

  • Work collaboratively with insurance carriers and agency team members to resolve client issues.

  • Meet agency service standards for response times and client satisfaction.

 

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred.

  • Active Property & Casualty Insurance License (or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe).

Independent Agent

The Independent Insurance Agent (1099 Contractor) is an independent business professional responsible for generating new business, servicing clients, and growing a personal book of business while representing the agency and its carrier partners. As an independent contractor, this position operates with a high degree of autonomy and is responsible for managing business activities in accordance with the agency's contractual agreement, carrier guidelines, and all applicable insurance laws and regulations.

The Independent Insurance Agent is expected to provide professional insurance advice, develop long-term client relationships, and maintain the highest standards of ethics, integrity, and customer service while meeting established production goals.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prospect for new clients through networking, referrals, marketing, community involvement, and other approved lead generation activities.

  • Conduct insurance needs analyses to identify client risks and recommend appropriate insurance solutions.

  • Quote, present, and sell personal and commercial insurance products offered through the agency.

  • Educate clients regarding policy coverages, deductibles, exclusions, and available coverage options.

  • Develop and maintain a personal pipeline of prospective clients.

  • Follow up with prospects and clients to generate new business, renewals, and referrals.

  • Cross-sell additional insurance products to existing clients when appropriate.

  • Assist clients with policy applications and required documentation.

  • Maintain accurate and timely records of all client communications and sales activities within the agency's management system or approved CRM.

Independent Contractor Status

This position is classified as an independent contractor (1099) and is not an employee of the agency. Independent agents are responsible for their own federal, state, and local tax obligations, insurance, business expenses, and any required business licenses unless otherwise specified in the Independent Contractor Agreement.

Independent agents control their own work schedules, prospecting methods, and daily business activities while adhering to the terms of their contract with the agency. Nothing in this job description shall be construed as creating an employer-employee relationship.

 

Working Conditions

Independent Insurance Agents generally work from a home office, agency office (if available), or client locations.
